Default sohc turbo project

Ok i have a 88hb with a D16z6 built for turbo. (Weisco 8.5:1 pistons, eagle rods, arp head studs, built head"super tech") Well its just sitting in the car waiting for a turbo and a tune. My question is is it ok to run it without turbo? My fear is my comp. ratio, its 8.5:1 but it also has a .040 head gasket and bored out .020. Got other important stuff my money has to take care of right now so u know. HB was a std dpfi converted to mpfi and then to obd 1 to use the p 28 ecu. This was very fun i did it with soldering wire and more soldering.

Does the car have any kind of tune on it now?

It's going to be quite unhappy that low on comp with no FI.

No tune. This project is just been sitting dew to other suff i have to take care of. Would it be better to wait and get a turbo and tune the car. Also the engine needs to be broken in. "set the rings"

I would just wait until you had the money. No need to spend that kinda money on an engine and not break it in right.
