I tried running 96 dx OBD2 injectors on my D16Y7/92 LX running OBD1 and the car ran like ***. It would stumble and backfire at times. I read that even though the injectors are the same size, the resistance is different between OBD1 and OBD2 even though they are both D series injectors.
most D-series injectors are 240cc. (some are 180cc)
most B-series injectors are 240cc. (a few are not)
different engine requirements are handled through pressure regulation differences.
Mush easier and cheaper for a manufacturer to do it this way.
