what is the benefit of an aftermarket flywheel on an R? clutch recommendation?
I am going to be having my tranny rebuilt soon and was wondering about the effect of an aftermarket flywheel on my R. Is it significant enough that I am better off replacing the OEM flywheel? Which clutch setup would you recommend for a daily driver. I have looked into an ACT but a Honda master tech I talked to seems to lean towards the oem clutch.
your opinions are greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

a light flywheel will be ok. the car will feel like it has a little more pep but it might take some getting used to during shifting because RPM will fall quicker. if the car is relatively stock, a stock clutch will be fine. my R has a stock motor with JDM header, light flywheel, stock clutch, and it drives like normal.
My R was relatively stock. I replaced oem with the Exedy organic clutch and a Toda flywheel. Car felt great. Was great in traffic and the flywheel felt
great!
Edit*
If you daily drive your R and have no interest in boosting it etc then an OEM or close to OEM (like the Exedy) is a perfect choice. As far as flywheel goes I would absolutely reccomend an aftermarket replacement. Adds a new sense of fun and zippiness (if that's a word, LOL) to the caR.

I have to agree with Opie here.
I have a Toda flywheel as well and love it!
(Oh, and zippiness is totally a word, and if it's not, it should be)

when i replaced my stock clutch I replaced my flywheel with a comptech aluminum one and clutchmasters stg.3 clutch and I love the setup. cars revs harder it seems and the clutch engagment feels like stock but a little more aggresive.

Ok, understood (regarding the aftermarket flywheel).
So what is the difference with the 8lb as opposed to the 12lb aftermarket flywheel that these companies are offering? How would the weights affect the feel of the vehicle?
Also, I dont mind putting an aggressive clutch but my goal is to have it as drivable as stock. To my understanding the higher the stage the harder the clutch is to engage.

not necessarily. my stg 3 feels very much like a stock clutch. this is mostly because its a solid disk opposed to a puck clutch, which in my experiences are very rough to drive daily.
