Distortion on speakerwires?
I got me 4 new speakers, tweeters, amp and subwoofer installed (all Audio System) and it's working great, but ...
I've a constant soft-metallic ticking/hissing sound that goes with the rpm.
I got this as well when the audio system is turned off, it's as if some signal from the engine bay is picked up by the speakers or speakerwires?
Could this be from the amp? Which is in the trunk, but it has the power cable coming from the battery.
I got my power wires and speaker wires seperated.
The speakerwires are new and seemed shielded enough.
Do I need better wires still?
Or are there any other things that I could try?
thx,
Peter

Although it really shouldn't cause noise, do you have the remote turn on wire seperated from the RCA and speaker wires?
Make sure to check your grounds as well. Remove any paint from where the ground wire is attached and make sure it is securely fastened.
Are the RCA wires new and/or in good condition? If you remove them from the amplifier can you still hear the noise?

I got the remote-on wire on the same side as the power cable.
There are also signal cables. Not sure if that can be it, but there are signal cables on both sides.
The RCA wires are brand new out of the box. Weren't the cheapest either.
I haven't removed them from the amp yet, but I'll try that today. Thx.
