The factory speakers are trash. You get so much distortion when you raise the volume high. I was wondering if someone swapped them out and if so for what.

They're not trash.....they're just not designed to be the competition-type speaker that YOU apparently hoped they would be. Most factory speakers are like that. Even BOSE equipped cars aren't really all that great.

Aftermarket speakers are almost certainly the best way to go if you're looking for serious sound....but it will cost a pretty penny. Me personally I prefer FOCAL speakers.

I'm not looking for "competition" type but something more decent than stock. Are the front and back 6.5"??

In the sound settings on the head unit, do you have the bass turned way up? I am pretty sure that this level is for the speakers only and has no effect on what is coming out of the sub. Try turning the bass level down. It should cut some of the distortion.

I am running Eclipse SE5000 in the rear, but you could run them all the way around. To be honest, you will likely get much better sound with aftermarket speakers and an new Amp.

Here is what I am running, this is all aftermarket.

Eclipse CD/DVD/NAV w/Steering Wheel Remote Harness
Eclipse EA4000 - 4 Channel Amp
Eclipse SE5000 3-Way Rear Speakers
Polk Audio Front Componet Midrange & Tweeter w/Crossovers
Eclipse AX1000 Subwoofer Amp
2 12" Kicker CompVR Subwoofers in Custom Molded Fiberglass Enclosures

This system sounds AWESOME. When I play a Star Wars Movie in the car it sounds like I am in the threater.
