Default Replacing headlight lens 94-97 housing + 98 lens?

have a question, are they 94-97 headlights the same as 98-01 headlights besides the lens? I would like to just swap the 98 lens onto the 94-97 housings?? has anyone done this

my 98's have broken mounting tabs, while it would be alot easier it seems to swap just the lens onto the 94 housing without broken tabs. Is it really the projectors they looked damn near the same

You could just use plastic repair kit and use tabs from a different headlight to fab something up!!

umm yeah, I have several sets of both 94-97 and 98+ headlight housing parts. The rear housing and internals ARE the same on all years, except for where the lens attaches to the rear housing. 94-97 had 4 plastic tabs I think, and several metal clips holding the halves together. 98+ had more plastic tabs, and no metal clips at all. I can't remember for sure, though, if the plastic tabs on the 98 housings will line up with the plastic nibs on the 94-97 lens, or vice versa. I do know that the metal clips on the 94-97 headlights will not work with either the 98+ lens or rear housing.

As far as the internals, they are exactly the same. Back before I had HID, I was messing with one of my original 94 projectors and broke something. So I ended up getting a busted 98+ headlight from a body shop and swapping the internals over. So I had a 94 projector on one side and a 98+ projector on the other side. The beam pattern and cutoff from both halogen projectors looked exactly the same.

so i can use a 94-97 and swap the lens on but the mounting tabs arent quite the same?? i will dig up the headlights in my garage and take a close thorough look at them! as long as the internals are the same im sure i can make the 98+ lens fit then

Do you only have the 98+ lens? If you have both the lens and the rear housing, you can swap the internals.

I actually did my HID retrofit on my original 94 headlight internals, and then swapped them into my 98+ headlight housing and lenses. Perfect fit.

The headlight internals are secured by the 2 adjusting screws and a central pivot (plastic piece on a ball joint that snaps into a hole in the internal projector base).
