Default AMS MOTOR OIL??????

ok so i was told from a friend of mine about AMS MOTOR OIL. it was said that it is guaranteed up to 25,xxx miles witout changing the oil. but i would have to get a special oil filter too with it. its 10.50 a quart and the oil filter is $25 so i looked at it as a pretty good deal. even if i dun drive 25,xxx miles a year i could just change it once a year anyways. just wanted to kno if anybody here has heard about this kind of oil or if anyone here even uses it. any feedback and comments will be appreciated. THANKS!

There are all kinds of stuff out there.

If it was that good, wouldn't the auto manufactures recommend it /

In my 30 + years of driving I have tried a bunch of stuff.

For the past 10 years or more I buy what ever oil is on sale at places like Wal-Mart and use Fram filters. Never had a oil related issue.

Most guy's will agree it more important to replace the oil and filter then just about anything else. 5000 miles for a oil change should be your norm.

My DD is a turbocharged 05 Subaru Legacy GT with 95,000 miles. I only has ever had the cheapest name brand oil I can buy and mostly fram filters. The turbos fine.

are you talking about amsoil? when we was in vocational tech,a rep. from amsoil came in to talk with the class. he said in nascar you see all the teams advertising this oil and that oil,but thats because they pay $. he said most actually put amsoil in there motors. with the auto manufactures i believe again its who pays the $. thats my opinion though. i love amsoil and will continue to use it. its a little pricey, but when you got a good bit of money in a motor its worth it. i dont use there filters though. i just get a k&n,or a good brand like that. on the daily beater i use walmart-supertech fully synthetic oil and filter

I hate these threads.

1992si - if you're going to run fram, why not just bypass the oil filter? I don't run a filter on my VW and it's never given me any problems in the past 10 years.

Go to an auto parts store and look up an oil filter for a 1959 VW Bug. While you're at it, tell them you need a radiator and head gaskets for the same vehicle.

i dont understand your point at all. i thought you were bashing fram filters. i am not a big fan of european imports at all.
at those vw events they have every year i hear they have a contest to see how long they can run those old air cooled engines with no oil. apparently they are very stout.
however thats apples to oranges compared with a honda engine.
its funny that you say you have no problems with your bug. theres a guy who lives in my complex who has one and i swear hes out in the parking lot almost daily with the wheels off or the dizzy out or something on it is [freak]ed up.
