Type-R Block Auction
Hey all,
I was browsing around eBay and saw this listing for a damaged Type-R block. The seller says it would be good starting point as a re-sleeve block because of the damage. I'm looking to build a B18C5 to go .21 over, forged internals, arias pistons and toda cams. Is this something I should consider? How about the price--good deal?

1-2k for a damaged bottom end?
If you know you are going to build it, just buy a B18C1 bottom end. You'l pay more for the C5 name which doesn't make any sense if you are going to just going to tear it down for a 2.0L build.
I just realized I have one, and a B16 bottom end. If interested in either send me a PM.

Ouch... Hell I'm selling a brand new OEM dealership Long Block for 3k... NEW!!!
Agree'd though, if your looking for a damaged block, look for a C1... you will spend more for the ITR block with no gains with what your plans are.

HEY OP ::
I have a Damaged OEM USDM C5 for sale ,
its already sleeved to 84 MM , Darton sleeves
The Damage is that i blew up the pistons in the 2 middle cylinders , so those sleeves would need to be replaced .
I already removed the bad ones , and still have them laying around somewhere if youd ant to see them too . Other than that the block is Legit , still has The vin , and ill chop some change off of that 2k Price tag you have there .
Let me know if your interested .
The Block in those pictures looks to be in good condition , 'cept for the damage on the edge obv.
is there any more pics of the block online ?id like to see it from some more angles personally

I bought a complete shortblock (b18c5) w/ a washed cylinder for only 500$ shipped. That was a great deal because Migs is a standup guy! 1-2k seems high. GSR short blocks are super cheap fwiw. If you are gonna bore/sleeve then go with the GSR block.

By the look of the damage, it appears to be pretty minor. The pics show that the damage to the cylinder is just on the sleeve and doesn't cut into the block itself. The pics show the gouge stopping just short of the block material. So if I'm thinking of having the block sleeved anyway, this is a zero-mileage engine to start with. Plus, I can pick and choose the stock internals I want to use (again zero-miles) or sell them off and make back some coin.
Good point on the lower skirt--a standard B18 block won't have the lower skirt. Definitely something useful when building hp.
I can understand all the offers on the long blocks and heads, but those have miles on them and I like the idea of starting with something new.
