Default B-series road race cams???

I do regional racing in Canada under CASC-OR. I have ATS 3-4-5th gears with a 4.40:1 FD and a Spoon 1.5way diff, I spend my time between 5500 and 8600rpm (Don't want to rev higher except in 5th when I'm at Mosport so I can hit 135mph)

I have tried toda Spec B that I liked but broke the exhaust cam, then moved to the SK2 Pro 1+ but didn't like the power ban (Made 134ft-lbs at 5500, Vtec kicked in at 6400 and peak was 217whp at 8700 so to high and moved in and out of vtec on the track )

My curent Setup:
Password:JDM intake,62mm TB, AEBS Manifold with Hondata Gasket
CTR head milled 0.015", mild port work and a 3 angle valve job
Stock CTR cams, Springs and sk2 cam gears
Stock JDM b18c-r bottom-end with a Fluidampr single crank pulley
Stock jdm 98+ header and a custom 2 1/2" cat back

Made 182whp at 8000rpm and 128ft-lbs I love the power ban but I want more hp

I will convert the header to a Tri-y but I'm looking at:
BrianCrowers stage 2 (n/a)
Skunk2 Stage 1 (tuners)
BuddyClub spec 3+
(I don't want to move my power ban and from what I understand lift doesn't really move it but duration does)

Would like to see dyno's

Where did you have the cam centers on the Pro1's ? I have found the peak @82-8300 when set properly. Move the VTEC point earlier is also easy.

After tuning the lower lob, 6400 was the best place to set the vtec. I moved cam gears 2 degrees both ways and the lowest I was able to get the peak power was 8650rpm. (The motor I was using was a little different. It had a 64mm TB, Ported Type R manifold, Ported PR3 head, Stock b18c-r bottom end with a spoon header)

Are you suggesting I go back to the pro 1+ with my current setup?

Yes. It sounds like you still had the centers pretty wide for that to be where Max. numbers were. Pro2's max around 86-8700 Pro3's 9000.

Doesn't help with out a dial indicator. I have no idea what +1/ 0 actually means, except that your cams were not degreed in.

the 01 ITR cams were great for the overall power band but just did not have enough power for tracks like mosport. I switched to skunk stg1 and it seem to be a bit better but not enough. I am now looking to either increase displacement or try the pro 1's. For you I would consider trying a new header setup, Hytech was awesome for midrange improvement for me.

what you saw with the pro 1+s is odd.. vtec onset should be much lower than that and is a great road race cam

For stock C/R 1.8's with bolt-ons for RR, I got that these were the cams of choice:

1. Rocket Motorsports M22X
2. Skunk 2 Pro 1
3. Skunk 2 Stage 2
4. Toda B

Some people talked about Crower and Brian Crower, but no comparisons, those are wildcards.

See my dyno post with the stg1 cams. I have not had time to retune after the Hytech and BPR intake install.

It's hard to tell where VTEC comes in...how where the cam gears set?

Your power ban with my gearing is what I'm looking for!!! If you upgrade your cams let me know!!!

Cheers!
