Illumina or Koni YELLOW? CIVIC
hey guys i have a daily driver em1 civic 00. and im planning to get suspension upgrade. right now i have h&r race springs with stock shocks. its nice but i wanna go lower. im thinking of goin with ground control coilover sleeves. do i need shocks? will shocks blow?
if they do blow, what shocks are better to get for daily driving, kkoni yellows or tokico illuminas? i know gc with KONI is a proven combo but is it necessary for daily driven cars because its really expensive and i dont plan on spending all that money if i dont need to. tokico illumas seem to be a better and affordable shocks. also i heard konis go up $40 in sepetember, dunno if true.
which should i get guys? thanks

illuminas have lifetime warranty as well.
illuminas are a great shock.
both koni and illuminas can be mistreated and thus break or "blow" if you lower it too much. any shock would.
and yah, the horses mouth says that there will be a 10% price increase for konis very soon.

i have the illuminas coilover kit, and i'm not really that happy with the spring rates, i think it could be alot stiffer. My car is not lowered that much at all and i can bottom out pretty easily, especially if i hit a bump when the suspension is loaded. I guess that would be the case with any set up tho.

yeah, i havent heard many good things about their springs they include with their full kits.
better off to get something like pro kits and illuminas. at least i had a great experience with the pair.

I had the illuminas on my DA for about 4yrs and they were very good shocks. For the abuse I gave them, I'm surprised they lasted as long as they did. And even on their way out they were OK at the track.
I decided to replace them w/ Konis because this seems to be the route most of the people who actually track and race their cars go. IMO the reason to go w/ Koni is that they can be rebuilt and better than that they can be revalved to adapt to your changes. So maybe now the car is a daily driver and needs basic yellows. But say 3yrs from now you really get into tracking your car... For the same cost as a basic rebuild you can get them revalved w/ race spec vavling. A little more cost and you can have them shortened as well.
