Default head work

i didnt think this should go in the cam section of the faq because it really doeset fall under that category, but here goes..

when i upgrade my cam (to a crower stage 2) and look to get new valves, springs, and retainers, it says do not use titanium retainers with a daily driver, why? also it says not to use the cam with oversized valves, why? shouldnt i be okay with a valve thats .050 over with the cam? or is there an issue that i dont know about. head will be going on a 00 base h22a4, port and polish will be done and crower cams with crower springs retainers and valves. aem cam gears, s2 IM, 68mm tb, aem cai etc

thanks in advance

prolly because titanium isn't as resillient as steel. with oversized valves and the high lift cams, you may get valve to valve interference.

Crower cams haven't been especially impressive, at least with the H22's. Nothing seems to out do the Skunk2 Pro series cams. If they're over your budget, save for them.

Titanium retainers will be a wear item.

Search Skunk2 Pro series and Crower dyno's. The pattern of results will be pretty obvious from the beginning. Buying parts because you heard they're good is a bad way to go.

Supertech makes good valvetrain.

Supertech, Ferrea, Rocket are all good options. Contact one of the sponsors (search the Sponsor forum) for Supertech and Ferrea, and you can contact user Aquafina for Rocket.
