Default No Power - 89 HF - Need Help

I've only had this car a few weeks and I'm still getting everything fixed on it. I'm completely stumped right now. When the key is on Acc, there is power, and sometimes that power is not steady (the radio will blink on and off over and over). When the key goes to the on position, everything goes blank -- no power. Needless to say, when I turn the key nothing happens.

I am 95% sure this is an electrical issue. Any idea what it might be?

it may be a battery. just enough juice to get the radio on but not enough to get the car starting

Grounds are all fine. So is the battery. It's something related to the ignition.

Key in Acc, limited power, key to on and everything instantly goes black. When the key is on acc. there are no lights on the dash like you normally have when you put the key in.

I still think it's something with the ignition. Key in postion 1 with the hazard light switch on and it makes a siren type buzzing sound along with the beep that comes on when you don't have your seatbelt buckled. Same thing with key in position 2 and everything is out.

Could this be the ignition starter switch?

The only other thing I can think of is a bad main relay?

when u go to position 2 u should hear two sounds.

sound number one: humming sound while the check engine light is on (about .5 seconds long)
sound number two: a loud click

one = fuel pump
two = main relay

if u are getting that click then count your relay out, its still fine.

Jiggle or slightly turn the key a little when it happens and see if it either helps or makes it worse. Either way you need one. DON'T put one in if it doesn't affect it at all. The dealer should even stock it even though it is almost 20 years.
