Default CRX Tranny fill bolt

Does anyone have a handy picture of the fill bolt on a 90 crx dx? I am not quite sure which one I have to remove in order to fill the transmission.

Thanks.

it's on the side of tranny near the axle, a 17MM bolt with a much larger base (the hole is probably 22 MM that it threads into) Fill until fluid comes out the hole and cap it off, you're done.

I usually take my starter off n there is a 17mm or 19mm bolt under the starter. There will also be a spring so watch it dont lose it. Fill it through there a lot easier then having to stick a hose on the hole on the side of the tranny. Now u still take off the 17mm bolt on the side to tell when it is full. Sorry dont have a pic.

#11 is the fill bolt. use a 17mm 6 point closed end wrench. do not attempt with a 12 pt! it is a tough bolt to remove and even a 12pt wrench will strip it. so i recommend removing that FIRST, before draining the tranny.

#7 is the drain plug. use a 3/8 ratchet to remove it.

I like using the reverse hole.. Right in the open. Its number 6. I believe 19mm wrench? Thats where I fill up my fluids at. Oh ya, its 2 1/2 quarts to fill the tranny. If it already has some fluids... Be sure to check the check plug after you fill.

2.5qts is too much.

do it right with the fill bolt and youll see its just below 2 qt.

2slow4stock is correct. It says in the manual that it takes 5.0 pts.

5.0 pts = 2.5 qts

But that is when there is no fluid at all. Like the engine oil there is always fluid left in there.

it wont take that much, it will only take that much if you have the diff out and drain all fluid. i would say 1.5 pt. tyson is correct

I never said that Tyson was wrong. Did I ever say that?

What I was talking about was the full capacity of the tranny when its totally drained. Did you not read all of my post? I was saying that its never going to take the full amount unless you're doing a total rebuild or something.

The information that I got came from a Chilton Manual. So don't say you corrected me when that's what the manual says and not me.

its 2.1 qt at assembly, fully drained. not 2.5 qt. you are wrong for posting incorrect info from chiltons. 2slow4stock is NOT correct either. just getting the facts straight.

-1 chiltons.

+1 honda fsm aka helms.

Tyson is correct. When I had reassembled my transmission, it took about 2qts. No way 2.5 would fit unless you fill through the VSS with fill bolt tightened.

Now on the other hand, the 92-00 D-series transmissions DO take more fluid(around 2.5qts IIRC); which may be where the discrepancy came from.
