Exhaust/Fuel/Ignition problem? Car runs like garbage! Help please
Hey guys,
I've been doing the searches for my problem before I posted, and now I'm hoping that someone out there can help me with my situation. I have a 89 crx si (it's my daily driver), completely stock except for a crappy little air intake, catco cat, and a (please don't laugh) cherry bomb muffler. Thing is that it sounds like I've got a frog coming out of the exhaust or something. I'm getting really rough idle when it's hot, and hesistation in the low (2k-3k) rpms. It runs sort of ok when I'm in 3rd (at 4k-5k) or in 4th. I've checked the valve clearances, changed the plugs, changed the wires, checked the cap, the rotor... today I even flipped out the fuel pressure regulator...and it still runs like it's got a big wad of booger stuck in it's exhaust system.
I don't know what else to check... any ideas or links to a previous post that might help me out?

The cat is brand spankin' new... the reason why I replaced it was because it was starting to do this....
Hey,
Thanks for the tip... I'll snag the one off my project car. I'll let you guys know what happens...

Yeah, I guess you can say that I've got a 'few' spare parts lying around... changing the fuel filter's no biggie...took all of 10 min... Honestly, I don't think that it did anything performance wise, but the one I took off the car was hella dirty. I think I fixed the problem...I changed out the cap...threw on some diff plug wires...and it seems ok...I've got so many spare parts now, it's sick...makes it great when I'm broke and I need something...like a tranny or clutch or what-have-you...
