Default Damn thieves!!!! Car broken into...

So last night Aug 9 from 11pm to Aug 10 4am my car got broken into in the exposition area right near the L.A. coliseum. We left the event and walked to the cars when I came to realize my hood being popped open and my front right side passenger window smashed. As soon as I saw this, I'm like "****." Never would I thought I'd be a victim of this but it happens. Anyways it was my car and my friends car parked behind mine and my friend decided to leave his car keys in my car so he does not lose it at the event. So as the thieves broke in they found my friends car keys which had parked behind mine. So I see my friend is not parked behind my car and I immediately knew it was stolen. We called police and they wrote up an investigative report and afterwards we drove to the police station to report my friends car as a stolen vehicle. I guess all we can do is wait until they find it. I was wondering what is my damage for a broken front right window for a 07 civic? Can I report this to insurance and they will take care of it?

As for my friends car, if anyone is in that area can you guys keep your eyes open for a 07 or 08 red Audi A4 sedan S-line titanium package with a black front girlle and 18" 15-spoke charcoaled colored rims with shaved badges only leaving the "S-line" badges with tints all around.

your hood was propped up, right? did they get anything from you?

your window is probably 200 bucks plus install and re-tinted if applicable.

Sorry to hear about your car. Trust me it happens to most of us and can happen to anybody.

To answer your question about insurance......if the cost of the repairs is SIGNIFICANTLY higher than your deductible then go ahead and file a claim with them. If it's below the deductible or only slightly higher then just pay out of pocket so your rates won't go up.

I basically do have to pay out of my pocket because the damage is less than the dedeuctible. I did report to my insurance company and they found a place for me that would do it tomorrow. My rates won't go up if im not paying deductible and its basically out of my pocket, right? Total price with installation is $300+tax. Should I try to find a cheaper place or is $300+tax reasonable? And the window is supposed to be tinted so a window+tint should come out to how much and im talking avg price, not the lowest.

As for my friends car, his car was a lease. Any idea what process he would have to go through?

tell him to call his insurance company.

and shop around for a new window....you may get it a little cheaper else where. it's not everyday that people on HT replace side windows so we wouldn't know prices off the top of our heads.

The side window should cost you between 150-200, labor at an average shop is 50 bucks a hr. Tint for just that window should be around half of 75-100 which is for both windows.

Well it's a wrap. Sheriff found the A4 off the 60 freeway. Pulled the A4 over but then the thieves took off and we have a high speed pursuit ladies and gentlemen. Sheriff crashed into the A4 and managed to arrest the thieves. Car is at a junkyard and will need to get fixed.

As for my window I got it replaced for a total of $115. Not the best job but then again it's a lease so I can care less.

It a comprehensive loss (not collision), your rates shouldn't go up.
