Will D series axles fit on a B series transmission?
I'm doing an LS Vtec swap and I don't have any B series axles and I was wondering if the D series would fit or would it just be better to go and get a set of B series?

I think they fit in terms of the spline count, but i believe the ZC intermediate shaft is unique to itself.

Jeez, lots of pple reasoning for them to fit.
I've never seen them fit, personally, but that doesn't mean they can't (I suppose)...but they can't without modifications...so get ur B series axles and be happy with 'em.

Hello all,
I am new to the Honda EG build, currently working on '93 Si Hatch with a D16Z6 engine with 2 axles from the transmission (one short, one long). I need to replace all the axle boots (inner and outer, both sides) and was wondering where to get cheap ones. My main concern is whether I can use B-series, H-series, and/or K-series axle boots to replace my torn OEM axle boots. From the above thread, I can tell the axle diameter varies from D-series to B/K-series. However, since the D-series has a smaller diameter axle than B/K, so I can use the B/K-series axle boots and they should work just fine on my D-series axles...?
Thank you for your help in advanced.

Have you ever dealt with disassembling a cv joint before because if not, they can be a really frustrating and may get damaged if you don't know what your doing. It is almost better and a whole lot easier just to replace the axles than trying to re-boot them.
Couldn't disagree more. As long as you have whatever boot band tool is required for the bands you use and a bench vise, you're pretty much good to go. Watch one of the bajillion youtube how-tos and you'll know everything you need to know. Biggest problem is dealing with the potential mess of the grease. The outer joint taps right off the shaft once you pull the boot back. The inners come right apart as soon as you pull the boot.
@fastburnsi that being said, if they look like basic aftermarket axles and/or the boots have been open for a bit, just replace the whole axle.
If they are OEM, it's worth rebuilding. Typically only the OEM ones (and a couple of the really good aftermarket) have the rubber damper about midshaft. Try really hard not to get cheap boots. You really want the thermoplastic ones, not the old-style neoprene rubber. The Honda dealer is by far the easiest/best place to get the right ones and the grease that comes in their kits is the best you'll find for any non-race car.

With that said, you almost raise my confidence about replacing boots myself if mine were to ever tear. I once had a shop try on mine years ago to replace a boot and got fudged up and damaged.
Thanks spAdam and to the person who revived this thread, learned something new today because this sparked my interest and now I feel like a bone head for saying something that is easy being difficult though I hadn't tried it myself but just looking at the rotating cup was deceiving on the complexity and only heard of them being a pain. Watched a video finally realized how much of a piece of cake it is.. 🤦♂️
