H22 turbo Fully Built Top and Bottom Price Quot......Help
Can someone please be honor with their answer on a good price quote for a fully Built H22 turbo engine (Top and Bottom) that can handle 25 PSI (400-500 WHP).....I found a low mile used less than 300 miles Fully Built for $4500.00 and Trade mine H22 in for $3800.00....This turbo engine has been dyno for race gas at 500WHP and E85 at 450WHP. I like to know if this is too much or good deal to buy....
horsepower all depends on the turbo setup...you can have a stock head and just a built bottom end and make between 400-460 on pump 93 octane gas.
only 400 at 25 psi on e85 seems way too low; to me anyway...now if you can trade your motor in for 3800 and then only pay 700 more for the built motor then that sounds like a good deal.
more info please

I think he meant that if he traded in his motor, it'll cost $3800 for the other motor. So basically he's getting $700 for his motor.
Considering the cost and labor of putting a built motor together, you'll end up spending something in that ballpark if you were to build your motor now.

i have receipts for mine, was 3400. not much work needs to be done to the head really...
so really, do U think this is a little high compare to the price if I would to get mine rebuild.... I really think I only need to bottom block, the labor and parts to resleeve could cause me something like:$600.00 for darton sleeve, $800.00 for Eagle Piston/rod, Labor be something like $1500.00 for a total of $2900.00
and Head could be Like $550.00 for cam shaft, $200.00 for cam, $650.00 for springs, valve, and retener. With labor being around $1000.00 for port and polish. $2400.00
Total everything could be $5000.00 to $5500.00
Does this sounds right. Maybe I'll save about $1000.00???????? for trade in vs rebuild.

Be careful buying someone else's work. It could have been thrown together in their garage...

Ditto that.....
Buy it from someone very reputable not just some shop that threw it together. All it takes is the slightest mismeasurement and the motor won't make it past 2000rpms.

Yeah every decent setup and consistent car I have seen, the shortblock has run about 5K, so saving 700-1000 may or not be worth it, depends on you trusting the builder of the engine, and the seller that what he/she says is true.
