OK to brush on Epoxy primer in this situation?
I'm doing all the bodywork and prep on my CRX prior to taking it in to have a shop spray it.
I'm planning on doing all bodywork, rust repair, minor filler work, and minor block sanding up to around 180 grit.
After I finish I'm planning on taking my car into a shop and having them do final spot putty, primer/sealer, topcoat, and clear.
I do not have access to a gun or compressor.
I am wondering if it is ok to roll or brush on epoxy primer on the bare metal areas? Does it cure just the same as if it were to come out of a gun or does the atomization in the gun help it cure differently?
I want to just brush or roll it on areas to protect from rust. I do not plan on removing the brush or rolled on primer at a later date. I only plan to sand it down smooth later on when doing the prep work before taking it into the shop.
Thanks for your help.

bumpo for this, I too wonder. I will be doing my bodywork bit by bit (no, not while I'm driving it) and I dont really want to bust out the gun to do a tiny bit.... any problems with adhesion foreseen? and what type of brisle won't get eaten by the epoxy?
The atomization helps the adhesion and proper curing. I would only spray it on outer panels. Its not going to eat bristles, and is fine to brush small spots but I wouldn't on the outer panel work. Typically body shops use an acid brush for small brushing w/ epoxy.
thanks for the reply. Thats exactly what I was looking for.
I've decided I'm going to brush it on for temporary protection, but remove it prior to spraying the entire car in epoxy primer when it goes in for the final prep work
