Default help!!!!....RUST....

hey guys, i was wondering what would be the best way to go about taking care of this rust. just sand, prime, and paint or what... thanks.

Yeah, I'd just do that... maybe someone else has a better idea. But, if you aren't too experienced in doing that kind of work, you may want to get a friend or even body shop to do it for you.

you have to take it to a shop to have it sandblasted. sanding wont get rid of it, and leaves microscopic traces of it which will grow back.

the shop also needs to treat the metal with a metal conditioner and primer it with an etching primer to protect it.

r u sure i would have to take it to a shop, couldnt i just try really hard to make it nice. woudnt that prolong the life for a long enough anyway.

Sanding it will take care of it for the mean while
- but i dont think you willl be able to get it all off...with out the sand blast
- maybe someone else on this board knows some tekniques you can use to just sand it then find some kind or conditioning for it...

they make this stuff called rust killer.get some of that stuff at an autobody supply place and grind as mutch rust as u can off and put that rust killer on it but u have let it sit for 24 hr befor priming.but if the rust gose all the way through ur gonna have to cut and weld.
