i had the same problem but with all my cylinders misfire cylinder 1, 2, 3, 4 and a random misfire code. that was crazy when i say that. i just replaced my rotor inside the dizzy and it fixed the whole thing.

I remember when I did my auto to manual swap, I started misfiring/backfiring out of the intake like a mother. It sounded like gun shots under load. No joke. I went 2 weeks swapping tons of things out untill I remembered something. During the tranny swap I also switched out my spark plugs and wires.

Turned out I had too much spark plug boot protector and caused the sparkplugs to short and go insane. The autoparts store insisted that they apply the goo for me (why the hell?) so I let them, and so they did. I went to install them and POP POP!!! They replaced the wires for free under lifetime waranty.

Another time I had misfires was on my girlfriend's Accord. After I washed the engine, lots of water had fallen into the spark plug holes (I don't see how if the spark plug wire tops go OVER and around the lip of the spark plug hole... o well.. water did find its sneaky ways) Took out each spark plug and dried them one by one, and all new again

Misfires can be a cause of so many things.

I like that newer cars (OBDII and up) can tell you almost "exactly where it hurts" compared to my car (OBD1) that can only tell you "it hurts somewhere around this area"

Now we as car doctors, must find out what is causing the pain
