H22a1 to a JDM H22a
ok recently i bought a jdm h22a.... I had a USD H22a1 in it but it was burning oil, not pulling worth crap, and vtec was not working.... when i compared the 2 motors i saw that there are different sensors, so i thought that i should probably put the sensors from the h22a1 on the jdm h22a so that i would not have any wires unplugged. I put the jdm h22a in my 93' pelude and it does not pull at all. After it get past 4000rpm it stops pulling... and revs very very slow. In first gear it hit vtec sorta quick but not really and when it hits vtec point i hear it kick in put it still does not pull.... in all the other gears it would take a year to get to vtec point.
What could be wrong... ive been w/o the true power this car should have ever since i got it...... ne suggestions plzz...
o yea i do get code 12.. somthing about the EGR valve ive checked it and it does work, idk why that code is coming up. PLZPLZ HELP

just because a common issue is the actual EGR valve for code 12, there is a lot more to this error code than clean it or replace it as it involves the whole EGR system.
Pick up and manual and work thorugh the process invovled with getting an CEL code 12.
Also the JDM H22 has internal coil whereas the american version has external coil. There are a few other differences

ok there were a few changes i had to make but all in all, i took my car to a honda technician and it was indeed the EGR valve.. it was not opening so i changed it and BAM it works bad *** halls *** .. i am very pleased with my car now
Purchased jdm h22a from Toronto JDM for 999.00 and with an install and part swap (which includes fuel rail, header, engine harness, ignition coil/distributor and new ecu) that would run you about 16 hours labour max (hopefully) At 80 bucks an hour that is roughly 1300. Ecu for a p13 would cost about 150-200 (programable ecu w/tune a few hundred more). Header, lets say cheap genaric just to get things going 200. In total that would be about $2700+/-300 I would guess depending on taxes and actual labour rate at the particular shop.
Or save, do the labour yourself, cutting your costs in half and you got a little over 1400 or so which is about what I paid.

I know that the VTEC pressure switch is needed if you're still using your USDM P13; otherwise, the JDM P13 ECU won't require it, I think. Correct me if I'm wrong.
I know on mine I had to get a VTEC pressure switch for my H22; since, the JDM H22 didn't come with the switch and its just a bolt that replaced it.
