put a new to me head on my car
put a new had on my car and adjusted the valves now and it still smokes bad when i idle and i stomp the throttle if i am in first gear and i try to take off quick it bogs to all most stall out is it normal for them to smoke for a lil bit at first cause i just put it together there is not even 30 miles on the new gaskets
If it smokes around the head itself you may want to fix your cam tming so the pistons aren't hitting the valves.
If it's smoking from the rear exhaust then you should see if your coolant is mixing with your oil.

If valve to piston contact already occured what good will adjusting the cams do? Assuming the OP even has adjustable cam gears.

i think i figured it out when i put a new head on my car i also installed a new oil pressure gauge and it came with a plastic oil line and that line blew off i think it did some damage cause there was not a problem until that happen

After fixing the timing without letting the engine run more than the time in the video, everything was fine and compression is still in spec.

Improper belt installation and valve to piston contact are 2 totally different problem. Sure one can lead to the other, but like I said earlier, if valve to piston contact already occured, what good will adjusting timing do?
