Before I get in there and rip the starter out (ugh... )

-89 dx hatch
- Ran fine, jump in one day and turn key over 2 clicks in ignition..
- car will not crank when i turn the key fully.. dash lights are on and everything seems normal inside.
-tried a second battery and that is not the problem.

*Car will start if it is push started*


What else can I try/may I be looking for, before ripping out the starter ?

*starter was just changed 6 months ago, so shouldnt be starter.
*starter showed no sign of failure
*the first time car did this we push started it, went to the store, turned car off, and it started one last time when we left.. so i figured it might be battery/alternator related..
however i tried a fresh battery and that did nothing.

 

Any codes flashing?

Im reading/searching and going outside trying different things..

all input is very welcome. I'm going to start rippin **** apart now.. ughhh

Main relay?

 

main relay clicks, fuel pump primes

checked the starter wires, all seem fine.

this is very frustrating.

If the starter clicks when u try to start its the starter itself.
If it doesent then try a new ignition.
Or check your fuses, or starter relay switch.

 

got it. starter.

hit it with a hammer and it fired up right away..
new starter on the way.
