as long as the vin# on the transmission doesnt come up as "stolen" then its fine. you can just tell the officer you bought it from a shop because your old transmission was blown.

if it doesnt have a vin, just tell them its japanese JDM trannies dont have vin numbers. my JDM b16A tranny ddint have one and i popd my hood for an officer and he didnt do anything. itold him the motor and tranny is japanese [B16A] and he just gave me a ticket for not having it ref.

They should be able to tell the difference between a JDM tranny that used to have a sticker on there and a USDM tranny that has had the plate popped off just by looking right? Shouldn't there be holes or something where the rivets were supposed to be if the plate was popped off?

You should be, unless you act like an *** and the cop gets pissed off and decides to give you a ticket anyway.

That would make no sence!

no vinn or serial tag= stolen engine to cops! which can lead to in cali in some cases where theres no vinn on the tranny or its been removed will end in your car being crushed by the p.d

Ask a ref. They should be able to tell you what their inspection credentials include.

i know of 0 emissions test stations, or police officers, that would ever consider looking at your transmission lol.. and the only reason its illegal to swap, is because different gear ratios effect your average emissions, killing the environment, etc. speaking of transmissions, if anyone has a cable clutch tranny for a 91 integra ls (b18a1) let me know!
