Default d16a6-T or b18a?

i'm in the process of deciding if i should get my a6 block rebuilt and go turbo down the road or buy in the b18.I have driven a ef with a b18 and enjoyed it a lot but was wondering how it pulls compared to a lightly modded turbo a6?I will be just replacing stock internals and would just use the stock spring on the turbo(5,7,or 10 psi)I'd be runnig a t3/4 turbo for those of you out there that are goin to bring the size of the turbo into discussion; just looking for your guys input,Thx.

B18 is going to have more long term potential if you wanted to turbo that down the line, although it will be a squeeze.

The A6 turbo'd could walk the B18 though.

I think i'll rebuild the bottem end and then drive that for a bit and then decide if i wanna go turbo or b series.I'm leaning more towards turbo for a few reasons;I have a buddy who can tune it for relativlly cheap,no shift linkage, ecu or motor mounts and all that other stuff changed. Any input from someone who currently owns a turbo A6 would be great.

You're fooling yourself if you think those 20 year old motor mounts are going to do any good restraining a turbo a6. You will need stiffened motor mounts either way ideally.

I have run an a6 turbo for a few years. I find I get a better tune out of the newer non vtec heads than the a6 head. The blocks are great, I have had no problems at 10 psi even. I have been keeping mine at or around 225-230 hp just to be safe. I am running a y7 head, z6 intake mani, and obd1 conversion. runs great. I will tell you right now it takes my s2000 any day of the week. Im going to add a 1.7 crank and 135mm forged rods to get some more torque. I run a t3/t4 garret combo with a sequencial blowoff, custom piping and ebay intercooler.

in regards to the motor mounts i'll just put in polyurthene inserts,I have a extra head i can slowly build as a back up but i've heard similar things said about the a6 heads.Roughly what did your turbo setup cost?

If you build it right, be prepared to drop some serious cash. On my D16Z6 block I'm almost at 3,000, so if you ever plan on building any motor pick wisely as building them costs about the same, the potential differences are the dividing line.
