Default idle question for type-S

i test drove a 2002 type S this afternoon with 92k miles. when i start the car, the car idles at around 1400rpm. when the engine warms up and drove for about 3 miles, the RPM now is around 1200 and the lowest reading was 1100rpm. is this normal on the type-S? by the way, the only mod on the engine was an AEM intake.

don't know what the problem is, but the stock idle is supposed to be at 850 rpms when fully warmed up.

When you first start the car it idles near 2000rpm and it slowly decreases to 850rpm when its fully warmed up

It's probably nothing major so lowball him because of the high idle. Or just don't buy it.

it also might take a while for the car to fully warm up depending on where you live.

here are the photos. as you can see on the RPM needle, it stays that way for the whole time. from starting the car-warming it up for 5 mins-test driven for 6miles and back to his garage. same RPM with the engine completely warm up. i even hit 5 time vtec on the test drive. do you this might be just the throttle cable that needs adjustment? and lastly, would you buy this for 6500? the car almost hit 92k miles. or would you rather buy a high mileage(130K+ miles) for 7k?

heres the owners discription:
Problems:
This car is NOT perfect.
The car was in a light collision before I bought it which caused the air bags to deploy. The title is still totally clean.
The former owner never replaced the passenger airbag but did repair the car from the accident.
The front and back bumpers have been repainted and have peeled in some spots.
The CD player ate 6 of my CDs and wont give them back, consider them free with purchase.
The keyless entry is still installed but quit working for the driver door some time last year.
It now seems that the passenger side window is not rolling down all the time.

with those issues, would 500 be enough to have it fix? this will be my back-up work car and keep the S2k instead since no serious buyer.

need your input guys.

sounds like the repair after the accident wasn't even done properly, so no, I would not buy that car.

the repairs would be at least 1000 if you plan on replacing that airbag. airbags are really expensive. You also have the passenger window motor that needs to be replaced. The 6 disc cd changer is broken. God knows what electrical issues caused the keyless entry to stop working. maybe it was the result of the accident and bunch of things getting unplugged. that would be the best option.

Its apparently normal for the RSX. Lots of RSX owners are worry about this, but the car is just warming up.

based on his picture that car is fully warmed up. so, i don't think its normal.

It could be the mileage? Its clearly the take awhile for the RSX to warm up. Half way = fully warmed up.

well, a good indicator is the CEL "check engine light" is on. take it somewhere to have the code read. it most likely is the IACV. mine went bad at around 70k and would idle high (1500-2000rpm) and at stop lights would jump from 850-1500rpm fully warmed up at opperating temp, but i replaced it and was fine. i guess its very common on k20's
