Default obd-o to obd-1 now code 22?

So we converted my brothers 91 ef hatchback to obd-1 using the complete rywire kit. We used an a6 block with a z6 head and z6 intake manifold. When we first went to start it we turned the key to number 2 before we started it to see if it was gonna throw any codes before we started it and it threw a code 22. Which is vtec oil pressure. Usually the only time ive seen this code thrown is when your trying to engage in vtec, weird that it threw it just sitting there with the car off... Anyway, i stuck another vtec solinoid that came off a b16a or somethin on there. It fit and its not leaking, the code 22 went away but still vtec is not engageing. after driving it for about 30 mins the code 22 comes back.. wtf? everythings plugged in and I even grounded out the ground wire on the vtec oil pressure switch. What the hell else could it be? By the way, the plugs, wires, oil, oil filter are all new, and its not low on oil at all.

ohm out the wire from the ECU pin to the solenoid and verify that it is indeed at the right ECU pin for OBD1. If there is more than 1 ohm of resistance you have a short or partial open in the wire for the pressure switch.

I traced the wire and it goes to the right pin for the ECU. Pin D6 for the oil switch on a p28 ECU. Ill ohm it out tomorrow and see whats the deal. I could just run a test wire to see but I would hate to have to cut the rywire conversion harness.
