Trailing arms inspection question
Hello everybody, while replacing misc bushings on my lca and RTAs some of the bolts were practically fused to bolts on the RTA. Like the UCA bolt that connects it to the TA's it was completely fused with the threaded part. So is it ok to just cut the welded nut on the back, and replace it with a similiar grade, possibly get it welded on later and pass inspection without a problem? I have completed drilled through it with a 1/4 left hand dril bit and its not going anywhere, its in there good. I have a 95 teg that has been through tons of harsh weather from a previous owner. Thanks.

Yeah you will be fine just using the bolt on the other side instead of a welded on nut. Use automotive suspension grade fasteners to pass inspection. I dont know how strict your inspections are, though.
Luckily, even if you fail, trailing arms are all over junkyards for $cheap. Buy some.
Dont replace the big trailing arm bushing with a polyurethane type. It's not for street use. The only use I could see it being remotely useful in would be drag racing...maybe.
