Default Alternative to HIDs.

Whats the alternative to the hid dilema? Silverstar, PIAA, Lumnics, HIR? I know there is a lot of opinions on both HIDS and OEM halogen. Out of all this what is really better?

HID is better by far, especially with a proper OEM projector retrofit...but yes alternatives that improve stock lighting would be nice too. Better bulbs like Osram Nightbreakers? Using foglights with non-yellow bulbs? Etc.

HIR is the closest alternative to HID, if you have 9005/9006 lamps stock.

I liked my HiRs when I had them, but the Nighthawks offered pretty similar performance for very little money comparatively.

I've had sylvania ULTRA's, they are way better than the regular sylvania's and pretty good for just regular lights.

From what I have experienced, no upgrade bulbs are worth the money. On my next car I think I will be going with one of the HID "kits". No retro-fit for me. A couple of reasons are I don't have the money, the headlights in the new car are JDM. Now to just look for a reliable "kit".

reliable and kit don't go together.

WTF 70 dollars, talk about complete trash

Brand new OEM Philips 4300K D2S bulbs go for $70-$80 on eBay, and that's a deal for those.
