Default Need sugestions on a rod/piton combo for turbo ls/vtec

i got a ls/vtec in my 90 civic hatch. it currently has ctr pistons and the head has been shaved .020 running a cr around 13.1. need some sugestions on a rod/piston combo for 8-10 pis turbo setup.

o i will most likely be able to put 101 octane in it all the time.

Sure they will work but its not advisable. Hell the CTR pistons you have will work just throw a 5 layer head gasket on to bump up the compression! LOL What was your question? What stock pistons and rods will work? Eagle Rods and CP/Wiseco Pistons 9.0:1 but given your head is milled it will be slightly higher in CR and that also depends on other things as well.

I'm pretty sure you'll get away with just using the Ls pistons. But the stock rods and pistons can only go so far. If you want more reliability and power, then just get some forged rods and pistons and a very good tune.

i dont wanna really go too far in terms of horsepower. a quick spool for like 8-10 psi. maybe even 5-7 psi. i got some people to do some serious tuning for me. i can get some ls pistons no problem. tht and im working on a limitied budget. forged rods and pistons are kinda outta the question right now. ive seen people on HT running stock blocks with more psi. i just dont want to break it, it is my dd.

Then you shouldn't turbo it. Not bein a dick, but even with built setups there is a chance of blowin the engine. If you don't have the cash to do it correctly right now then save up and do it right when you can. A 13:1 cr lsv is likely pretty peppy. Hopefully that can keep you happy until you save up the funds.........

With 13:1 cr you are really askin a tuner to do some magic to make decent power and have you engine not detonate. You can use a thick hg like stated earlier but your best route would be forged rods/pistons and lower cr. Even the stock ls pistons would give you more room, and could get you into the mid-high 200's fairly reliably. Just depends on what you can live with. Most will say not to attempt the 13:1 cr with boost, especially if its your dd. GL.

well now im on a budget b/c i spent most of the money of putting together the turbo components. onlty thing i had left to get was the turbo itself and a chipped p28. but now i gotta get some pistons for it to lowert compression.

just try selling your head or trading it, and buying rods/pistons that are better suited for FI
