Default F22B vs. H23A1

I just bought a 94 Si that came with a F22B in it not the H23A. Is there a big difference in the two motors?

My plan for the car is to make it a daily driver with some speed behind it.

Heres what your looking at

F22A1 - SOHC 135 hp @ 5200 rpm, 142 ft @ 4000 rpm

H23A1 - DOHC 160 hp @ 5800 rpm, 156 ft @ 5300 rpm

H22a1 - DOHC VTEC 190 hp @ 6800 rpm, 160 ft·lbf @ 5500 rpm

I would go for the H22a1 but for the little extra money.

Hope this helps

Is it dohc or sohc?

They both make 160hp.

The h23a1 makes 156tq while the dohc f22b makes 145tq iirc.

he said he already has the engine in the car.

the f22b (dohc) is similar to the h23 but without the 87mm frm cylinders. rather it has the conventional f22 iron 85mm cylinders, hence the lower displacement and tq numbers. not a bad engine since you already have it.
