Which is better, the F22B SOHC VTEC or the F22B DOHC
I have an F22B SOHC non VTEC and am looking at upgrading to either the F22B DOHC or the F22B SOHC VTEC.
Looking for the pro's and cons of each engine, relative to each other, and which would be the most significant upgrade.
Currently I'm leaning towards the F22B DOHC as it will produce 118kw which up 14 on the current engine, verses 107kw from the SOHC VTEC, which is only 3 more.
I can source either F22B [Imported from Japan].
The vehical it is to go in is the original Honda Odyssey [1996 ex Japan 4WD]. I have fitted a 2 1/4 inch exhaust [but not headers as they may have to change when I swap engines] and a K&N air filter.
So which is better?

f22b DOHC VTEC motor is very similar to the h23 in the 4th gen prelude. basically a good motor to boost due to low compression and a strong block. it probably makes 160 hp which is more than the f22b1 (sohc vtec) which makes 145.

if the F22 is anything like the H23 or H22, i would not boost it, sure it has low comp and a strong block but the cylinder liners are not good for aftermarket pistons and the stock pistons are too fragile for FI,
if you can drop an F22B in why not go with an F20B or H22A
... granted i only kinda know what i'm talking about when it comes to H and F series, but I watched an H22 blow under 8psi, so i declare them unreliable

I was also thinking of doing the same thing...But my reseach has shown that the 92-96 JDM Prelude Si had a DOHC F22b (1 or 2?) NON-Vtec producing close to 165 hp...Now from my research it appears to be a simple swap into 5th gen Accords... (ie: 1st Gen Odessey)...so simple, that you would only need to swap mounts from engine to engine & wire a knock sensor to the engine harness...now, I am very, very new to this F22B/H22 game so my words are only based on about 4 hrs of research which eventually lead me to here...I also want a similar answer as I need to swap out high mileage engine in my car for something lower but $$ is a key factor here...I want a simple/cost effective swap that will allow me to commute 50+ miles to work one-way 2x/day...
Again, any info would be appreciated!...
TIA!..

its not always the amount of boost your putting into the block i'm boosting 10-13psi on my h22 on stock bottom-end but my car is tuned

Very important to any major modification, and thats a thing many people should also look into when doing major modifications, good reply.
