Default Okay IACV..,.,.,.,.,.,.

so i have a problem with the IACV, it seems in the mornings it doesnt want to idle always wants to die. but after fully warming up it idles fine.

now i did change the iacv and tps....mind you both parts are used. so im think i still got a bad IACV, now my next question to you guys is.

when its warmed up(drivable) it doesnt respond well to throttle, meaning i can only use 1/4 throttle anything past that has no power and climbs like 1/4 throttle is on all the time. now i did replace my TPS and calibrated it but only got .4v-4.8v so would that make a difference or no? or is my IACV still holding back on throttle response? any help would work if not than Fu guys! j/k

what year civic is it? if it was older it could be equipt with a fitv (fast idle thermo valve) which acts kinda like a idle air control but only used before the vehical is warmed up only.

I would go with cleaning your IACV, I'm not sure if the D6B has a FITV, but you can check to see if tis there, if it is, clean that too.

i will have to check if it does i think it does, but would that cause poor acceleration as well? is the FiTv mechanical? or elecrtrical?

If your valves are throwing CELs then your car may go into limp mode, which will kill your power.

the fit valve is purely mechanical. has a thermo spring that reacts to coolant temp and moves a plunger to allow air flow past the throttle plate to control idle when the engine is cold. not only can it be cleaned but on the back side of it there will be i believe two phillips head screws holding on a plate. if you remove the plate you can see the plunger which can be adjusted. if its turned all the way clockwise then you know the plunger is alright.

my valves arent throwing a code but they do tap. wierd thing is i rarely get a code 14. when i do i have to go past a certain distance in throttle before it picks up power again. but this rarley happens. i wonder if its in limp mode but not throwing something im just not seeing.

also i will try cleaning that fitv asap. and update.
