Default VIS Racing carbonfiber hood quality: negative

Well, my expensive Vis Racing "carbonfiber" USDM SiR hood has started to crack/separate up front! Anyone else has that same problem?

Fixed it with clamps and Crazy Glue Gel:

How old is it? I've never seen one seperate before.

I've seen some that don't fit nicely. But not come apart like that unless in a accident.

Bought it last summer, no winter, no accident.

I think VIS use to make good carbon fiber peices, but I think over the last few years theier quality has decreased.

It doesn't look very old. I'd be having some harsh words with VIS about this. Even if VIS' quality has dropped(I haven't been paying attention to them for a while) its a unique problem to me.

Have you tried calling them? I'd be seriously pissed. Its cool that you fixed the lip but what if it keeps separating past the repair? I'd take it off until you could get a more permanent solution. If its not structurally sound it may not be safe to have on your car. Just a heads up.

Call them because that hood is no longer road use-able. The glue you put will not work, it will still crack. I have never seen a hood do this as well, not even cheap hoods. Keep calling them till you reach somebody.

Vis has gone down the tubes, my friend bought a silver kevlar hood for there is300 and with in a year the silver faded out as well the "uv protective" resin started to get rough. That hood is now trash so you need keep calling and email till someone responds.

I had bought a hood through VIS for an old car of mine, it was the invader style and had cracks in the parts where the hood protruded. they let me keep it and sent me a band new one that was perfect, but this was 4 years ago now. Quality of everything goes down, its too mass produced

Hood pins will work just still they say their part is quality. I would keep calling and emailing till someone gives in.

if the crazy glue doesnt hold up, use some 3M 8115, it's a very good panel bonding adhesive... it works wonders.... just my2 cents...

Don't even bother trying to deal with VIS. I bought from them last year thinking I would be getting an amazing product. Ended with a hood that had bubbles under the clear which have now cracked off little peices of clear leaving the CF completely exposed. It's also fading but in spots. Tried calling VIS after getting my hood and the fob on the phone didn't get me anywhere. 6 months, countless calls, and emails later I gave up.
