so my car clicks but doesnt crank...checked battery voltage and it shows lil over 12 which should give me enough to crank somethin...jumped the car and boots up fine...checked alternator output and it puts out 14.3 volts...soo nothing wrong there...charged the battery for about 5 minutes, shut it off, started it and booted up perfectly...waited a minute and tried again...and no crank at all...but it clicks...jumped the car and works fine again...what is the problem?? just replaced the battery 6 months ago...what could this be??

 

i would take the starter out, take it to autozone and have them test it for free. Sounds like you might have a bad spot on your starter or possibly a bad starter solenoid. The clicking is from the starter not fully extending to the flywheel before spinning.
