Default is this the alternator?

92 Civic CX ..
Let's say i drive the car around..
turn it off..
and then try to start it back.
it turns on for a second but then turns off by itself right away
If i wait 5 minutes .. it works again.
What's the problem with it ?

i don't think it is the alternator. what it could be is if your engine is at warm operating temperature, and you go to turn it on, the ecu might think the engine is cool and dump too much fuel and shut the engine off. This is just a guess but i remember reading something way back about a similar problem.

Main relay...they tend to act up during the hotter months like mine did in my '92 VX hatch.

yeah, it does sound like the main relay. try looking for some used one at junk yards. they are alot cheaper, if not the dealer has them for about $60.

Engine Coolant Temperature. My car constantly thought it was -40 Fahrenheit because of a dead sensor ($25 part). I'm not saying this is what's going on in this situation, but it is something to consider. :D
