is it possibly to remove the alternator with out the hassle of removing the axles? i really would prefer not to remove the axle because of the whole mess with oil and stuff. also i am driving an 97 civic ex with a stock engine.

Yeah just jack up your car enough to let the driver side axle hang freely. then it takes some pulling and wiggling to get the alt. out and back in.

 

i remember changing my alt on my old 98 civic ex and i never took the axle off.

there's only 2 or 3 bolts to remove and easy swap. Took me 15-20 minutes with ramps and the proper tools.

that sounds good. that enough proof for me! LOL

 

I pulled mine from atop. took some moving of hoses but it was only a 10 minute deal to change it
