Noob Q - JDM ITR P73 ECU - All OBD2A Type, or Not?
Sorry for the seemingly noob-toob question here, but I was curious if Japan ever offered the OBD2B style ECU plugs like we have on our USDM 00-01 ITRs.
A friend of mine in a foreign country is trying to round up the pieces for a swap into his 97 Civic, and I told him to run a 96-97 JDM ITR ECU since it has the same OBD2A plugs on it, but runs an OBD1 program that lacks CKF, secondary o2 sensor, evap, catalyst codes, etc. etc.
If he can broaden his search to include any JDM ITR P73 ECU to remain OBD2A style ECU plugs then that'd be great to know.
Thanks guys!

Just the 96-01. They didn't make the ITR in 94-95.
96-97 ITR ecu is P73-003
98-99 ITR ecu is P73-013
00-01 ITR ecu is P73-023

Well there were no 1995 ITRs, but there were some "1995s" I guess you could say. I mean the 1996 model ITRs were manufactured in 1995, so some online sites might still label them 1995 by mistake.
So in essence if the first reply is correct all JDM ITR ECUs have OBD2A plugs in the ECU.
Dang Aqua and Jackson - what's up?

yep, I own three JDM P73s. 003, 013 and 023... all OBD2a.

What up, Tom?! It's been a while since our days of screwing around in the civic forum. Do you still have the EG? I hope all is well and congrats on the baby!

Yeah I've still got the EG, and now a wagon with a b swap too - check my signature.
As far as the ECU goes I had a 96 spec P73 JDm ECU and it was OBD2A plug, but ran an OBD1 program - are all the JDM ECUs pretty much an actual OBD1 program, meaning it lacks inouts for a lot of the OBD2 crapola?

All of JDM ITR ECUs do not not have all of the OBD2 sensors we get here in the US, ie; Secondary o2, CKF, Evap Purge Control Solenoid, etc.
