Default Boosted D question...

I have a complete D16z6, a Complete D16y7 and a D16y8 head... im thinking about boosting and wondering if puting the y7 head (much easier to tune) on the z6 block (better oil pump, rod bearings, and oil pickup) would be a good idea? or am i better off just boosting the z6 or y7? thanks

boost the z6 and forget about the rest bro the z6 is a better platform. even the y d-series engines are good as well. but keep the extra money you would need to get a better or modified oil pump to avoid bearing failure on the y7 or y8 and boost the z6.

then again all series honda engines aside as long as its built right then you wont have problems no matter what you choose. also a good tune will keep your engine together. but so far the norm is to build the z6.

I'm with him.. you should sell the other 2 and build the z6 for boost.

the non vtec engine do make more tq numbers which i like i would boost a non vtec any day. the z6 is just a better platform at the moment for you from what im gathering. tuning non vtec is easier but when it comes to tuning at the end for a good tune regardless its going to cost money.
