in the last couple days, my oil light comes on when the car is idling at 1000 or less, but goes away as soon as the rpms rise. obviously the oil pump is working since its driven by the crankshaft and the light goes off after the rpms rise. has anyone else had this issue? the oil level is fine btw. im wondering if i should swap to an s2000 filter for more oil pressure?

Um, the oil pump is driven directly by the crankshaft, not a belt...
Put a gauge on it and see what your pressures are, and if it doesn't have 5W30 oil in it, put it in. You should not be depending on a filter for pressure, that is what the extremely small clearances in the block/rods/head are for. By restricting the flow you will only cause more damage, in this case, by starving the bearings of oil.

it has 5w30 in it and i have an oil pressure sender in my sandwich adapter, just havent plugged the gauge up (lazy i know). im not necessarily depending on a filter for pressure, i just know using the bigger filter it will bump up the pressure a couple psi. im wondering if my sensor is going bad, it is 14 years old.
