Lock troubles
Well, i go out this morning to finish installing my stereo and i notice that i can't open the passenger side door to my 96 civic hx. I then go to Napa and buy a slim jim and get it open. After taking off the panel and having a good look at the rods and linkages i have decided that I have no idea what is wrong with it. The door now unlocks if i have the key turned to the unlock position and lift up on the handle, but then returns to the locked position after take away the counter clock wise pressure, and locking and unlocking the door manually does not work either.
I am leaning towards a problem with the automatic lock system, seeming how there is no sign of life from the passenger side door when i try to lock or unlock the door using the switch.
Has anyone ever experienced this problem before? Or does anyone have any experience trouble shooting the automatic locks?
Any thoughts will be appreciated.

Check your radio install there are extra harnesses behind the radio that you wouldn't need for an aftermarket radio. The door trigger and allot of security wires are in the two extra harnesses back there. If you have inadvertently gounded something back there I could see it doing something funky with the locks like keeping the actuator powered and thrown in one direction.
So I still can't figure out the problem with my locks, I was talking to a friend that has a fox body mustang and he said that he had similar problems and that he just drilled his actuators out. Does anyone have experience with that, or an opinion on taking the actuator out?
Tried getting the actuator out, but i was not able to get the rod from the door handle off.
I tried everything short of breaking something to get it out. Does anyone know a trick to get the door handle out of the body? The rod is threaded so it appears that to get it off the handle i have to be able to one, spin the rod (i have no idea how to because it is attached to the striker plate and the actuator) or two, take the handle out and spin the whole handle off the rod. I really hope someone knows how to do this, i can't figure it out and everyone else i have spoken to can't give me any advice.

ok, i took the car into a shop. The wiring in the drivers side door had some shorts in it. They replaced the wiring and now everything works fine. It cost me about $450 to get it done, and that was with a cheap hourly rate. Hope this helps anyone that is having similar problems.
