I am trying to put the transmission case back onto the engine and cant seem to get this part back flush to the engine. Please help!!!!

Pics dont work, make sure the dowel pins are aligned.

 

I cant get the tranny back on. Tried everything. It seems like the splines on wont go back into the Clutch.

 

Did you replace the clutch? If so do you use a alignment tool when putting it together? Sometimes you just have to rotate the case/input shaft to get it to line up and then your good. Take a look the clutch disc and see if its aligned

 

Tried that and it wont go back in. Should the transmission go back without any friction??? I changed the clutch and flywheel and did use the alignment tool.

 

How many times did you align the clutch. I've had to do it as many as 3 or 4 time before the tranny would go on.

I have also learned that the 4" motor mount bolts are the same thread as the tranny bolts. I have extras that I use to hang the tranny on from the top 2 bolt holes.

For now just re-align the clutch.

 

Make sure that rear mount is out of the way. Line up the dowels, visually line up the tranny to make sure the mainshaft makes it into the pilot bearing. Just have patience, if you've got someone that can lift from underneath and someone that can pull from up top, that usually helps me to get it lined up well enough to start a couple bolts.

 

Here is the whole breakdown because I cant do anything right now because I am PISSED the F@*K off right. My tranny sounded bad making grinding noises and I changed the Clutch, flywheel, pilot bearing, and used all new OEM parts. Got the tranny back in and drove the car, it was still making that grinding noise so I went out an bought another tranny. now I cant get the tranny in. I have a Y7 and the tranny is supose to be Y8.

 

i had a problem with my tranny going on as well and i dont want to recomend this but it worked for me.

i pulled out the dowel pins as they were mangled and wouldnt fit in the tranny holes and i threaded the bolts in and started pullling it all togther with the bolts eventually everything lined up and it went together

i would NOT recommend that also, you can f**k up the splines on the input shaft this way. what i would do is removed the clutch from the engine and see if it fits on the main shaft with the tranny out. if it does, put the clutch back on, align it, install the tranny and if it stil doesn't line up, put a socket on the crank bolt and turn the crank as someone is pushing the tranny in, it should slide right on then.

after taking a second look at the picture it looks like you have some rust on the clucth (not sure how the input shaft looks) try putting some silicone spay on the input shaft. mighthelp a little more.

 

Yea i put a little grease onto the shaft in order to make it go in smoother but no good. Does the tranny (without tighening the bolts) go in completely flush to the motor?

 

yes when its all together they should be flush

 

I have done at least ten single cam tranny swaps, and they have never been easy lining them up. I have never seen a tranny slide directly flush without having the bolts in.

What i do is make sure the input shaft is in, and start threading the top bolts by hand. Always works this way.

Thats what I did last time to get the tranny in but this time its different. I cant get the tranny in to save my life. I will try to turn the crank bolt method.

 

does the clutch fit on the input shaft?

 

Did you remove the driver's side axle? If not the tranny can be near impossible to get on, some people don't seem to have any trouble with it, but it didn't work for me.
