Estimate Input and Ideas (99 EX Rear panel Damage)
So, I bought this 99 EX for $2900 w/111k. The hood paint has worn off for some reason and the guy had a lil fender bender. The car is not insured, thus I'm not driving it at the moment, but how much do you think the repair on this side dent will cost?? I already removed the driver rear interior panels and seats for easier/better access.
I'm no body person, so I doubt I could tackle this myself.

best way to see how much it costs is to find a body shop that will come out to your place for an estimate. they are out there. otherwise drive a few miles in it and take it to get an estimate.
yes i figured i could do that, i dont think u read that the car is uninsured, and i dont take chances to just drive my car to get an estimate. that's why asked, maybe someone had some similar damage and could chime in, but thanks for the input.
definitely would reccomend a new quarter panel. you can almost guarantee at least a minimum of 800 if they dont blend into the door. But that door looks like it needs some work as well so your looking well above 1k.average cost of a quarter panel replacement in our shop for a civic/integra is around 1200 since 99 percent of the time we will blend into the door and other surrounding panels if neccassary, other cars are more expensive since sometimes aftermarket panels are not available and you have to get them from the dealer which is very costly. Luckily for you just about every aftermarket company makes quarter panels for civics.
it doesnt ABSOLUTELY need a new quarter panel, that panel can be worked out and bodywork can be done. BUT a new panel is definitely the better way to go. doing a ton of bodywork and using lots of filler makes the panel weaker and more prone to paint problems later on. if it was my car, a new panel would be going on. But if you know someone good with a hammer and dolly, and can manipulate filler to come out nice than you may be able to save yourself some money, but in the long run its definitely a better idea to replace the panel.

Preciate the more clear input. To keep the car cost better, I believe I'll just buy the rear panel. The frame part shouldn't be so much damage, therefore I'll just get the body panel and let the shop or whoever work the frame.
I'm looking not spend more than a $1100 even with this part. Hopefully?!?!?!?

i say at least 1500 for the door and quarter being repaired, then blend on the decklid and bumper...but if you want it done right then thats the route you need to go....and thats a real low price for that so you could be looking at more!
I repaired and painted a frontend on a legend for 3200$ and every penny was accounted for...it depends alot on the shop writing the estimate...thats why insurance companies tell you to get 3 estimates from dif shops when you get in a wreck..

NO. please do not order a quarter panel painted, i dont even believe they come painted. Welding needs to be done to the panel, bodywork needs to be done to the panel to smooth out the weld spots that the shop will have to do on the rear pillars that they cut the panel off on, and near the rear decklid and such.
