how much horsepower can a stock 97 prelude auto trans hold?
i have a 97 prelude with the 4 speed auto trans in it with the sport mode. I need to know how much horsepower the trans can hold. does anybody know?
Honda/Acura Automatic Transmissions have hard time holding up with a lil more additonal power let alone a lot of power. They just aren't strong enough. Not a lot of Rebuilders of Transmission Honda Performance oriented places will touch the Autos for a lot of power builds...
I would imagine 250-300 hp would be pushing it... my 2 cents...

The 5g auto transmissions fail at an exceptionally high rate even with a stock engine. I'd leave everything alone and hope for the best.
ok yeah i want to put on a t3/t4 turbo that will increase another 100 hp and 8 psi and i'm affraid if i put it on ill blow my tranny. if i put the turbo on my car will put out a little over 300hp

LSD with a manual trans is a must with high HP... a good clutch combo meanin spendy is a must as well...
Right around 500-600 whp is where I see stock H trannys take a dump with non LSD
A buddy went through 4 or so H non LSD tranny's 600 whp mark, even a built trans aftermarket gears non LSD, put's in a stock H trans with LSD sure enough hasn't broken yet haha

get a trans cooler for that auto and you will be fine. Matter a fact we have a 400whp auto prelude on our forums. Your going to have to search tho. I believe the trans is built tho.

the truthful answer is about 175 hp and it comes with 200 stock.. You do the math. Also search SS tranny failure.

NO, HAVE YOU BEEN READING ANY OF THE RESPONSES???
They barely hold stock HP levels
You have a LOT more research to do before you put any turbo on your car.
