throw out bearing noise after brand new one installed
like the title says. I was getting a bearing squeaking noise whenever the clutch engaged that would go away when I disengage the clutch. Replaced the throw out bearing today and the noise seamed to be gone. Drove the car home after and when I pulled into the garage the noise was back. The new bearing was from honda. Is there anything else thatcould cause this noise?
as soon as you push on the clutch, the noise appears??? Let off and it's fine??
Just to clarify.
Only thing spinning when your foot is on the clutch is the TOB....

the opposite. When the clutch pedal is up (clutch engaged) the noise is present. When I press on the clutch pedal (disengaging the clutch) the noise stops. I don't need to even press the pedal very far, just far enough to take the play out of the pedal maybe an inch.

+2 a bad throwout bearing makes noise when you press the pedal to disengage the clutch. With the clutch engaged the TOB doesn't spin much (maybe freewheels a bit). But when you disengage the clutch, the TOB is pressing against the fingers of the pressure plate, causing the inner race of the bearing to spin, which in turn makes noise if the bearing is bad.

Thats a confusing statement. When you engage the clutch(foot off the pedal) there is no pressure on the TOB, but the mainshaft and countershaft start to spin as they are connected to the clutch disc. If the noise starts with foot off the clutch pedal(clutch engaged), its in the trans. If it starts with foot on the clutch pedal(clutch disengaged), its the TOB, as there is pressure on the TOB and the clutch fingers

Once they start making noise, the USUALLY get worse and become a growling noise- but sometimes they just blow.
Take it easy and don't drive too hard until you can replace the bearings or transmission.
It's not a tough repair- there are a few write ups about it, but the tranny must come down and torn apart.

Thanks for the advice. I'm in the market for a new tranny.

like we're saying...could be one of the 2 mainshaft bearings. Where in WA are you?
