Default help with y8 swap in a 96hatch

ive never had this much trouble with a swap before..usually i can find a write up and do everything myself without having to ask..that would explain my 2 posts..lol..

i started a new topic because i seen the one i had asked in before has not had a reply in over 2 months now..so here goes my problem again..videos will be made tomorrow in the day time if anyone who is willing to help requests them..

..i just swapped a entire y8 into my 96 hatch instead of just doing a mini me..
i used this write up for my 3 wire to 2 wire iacv conversion and my v tec wiring..

http://www.phearable.net/tech/...2.jpg

the car starts and runs fine..but with the stock ecu it idles at 1500 rpms..sometimes it kinda sounds like the typical 800 to 2500 rpm surge you get from a bad iacv..most of the time it just stays at 1500 but kinda sounding like a v8 with a cam..lol

if i put my obd2a to obd1 conversion harness with a p28 it starts but sounds like its only running on 3 pistons...and it wont rev passed 3500rpms..it kinda sounds like a 2 step launch control..the p28 im running used to run fine on a automatic..i have a friend who says he converted it..weird thing is when i put the p28 back in its original 93 auto ex..it makes that car sound like its running on 3 pistons also..only diff is the 93 ex will rev all the way up..

i can take videos of the car with diff ecus if it would make it easier for you guys to try to be able to help..lmk bro..im tired of idling at 1500 rpm...and im no longer getting my precious 39 mpg that i did with my stock y7..any help will be appreciated

your still running the P2E ECU right? If this is correct, undo the IACV fix (you will need a 3 wire IACV for Y8, automatic Y8s have them) and it should idle ok. What you really want to do is get the P2P ECU though, then it should work fine with the IACV fix and vtec will work.

sorry about the confusion, the reason you do the IACV fix is because if you don't you will get a surging idle. Here the problem though, normally when you do this you have a an ECU that supports a 2 wire IACV and a 2 wire IACV. generally people performing this fix have a 3 wire IACV and an ECU that supports a 2 wire IACV, this combination causes a surging idle and the IACV fix corrects this. What you have is a little different, you have a 2 wire IACV and an ECU that supports a 3 wire IACV, this will also cause a surging idle. The P28 should work fine though, if it were me i'd try to borrow another P28 and see if the one you have is bad. If you want to run the P2E for a while get a 3 wire IACV off an automatic D16Y8. you might also be able to use a Y7 IACV, not sure, not an OBD2/EK guy.

94eg8..you were right bro..the p2e will not run the y8 intake manifold doing the iacv fix..i tried diff ecus and conversion harness..it ended up being a loose conection in my wire harness..

i have another one on the way..hopefully it dont take to long..im getting really shitty gas mileage with the p2e...also i cant maintain a steady speed..it sucks to drive the 30 mile trip to work everyday..
