Default The proper way to paint side mirrors???

My girlfriend just bought some power folding mirrors for a dc2 and i was just wondering what is the proper way of painting it????

i was told to do these processes....

1) sand the side mirrors untill the paint is gone and the mirrors is the bare gray plastic color

2) spray primer on the mirrors

3) sand it one more time

4) then finally spray the mirrors with the paint

is that the correct process???? do i need to get a can of clear coat also??? please help, asap.....

You might want to use adhesion promoter on plastic.
