Default Repainting side mirrors

The paint is peeling off my side mirrors and I took them off so I could repaint them. However, I couldn't get the paint off with sanding, so I'm thinking of picking up some aircraft remover to peel it off.

Does anyone know what material the mirror is made of and if this method is too caustic and would damage it?

I don't think I would use aircraft stripper because those things are plastic. Use some rougher sandpaper and more elbow grease.
