D16Y8 into 93 DX 4dr
I've been asking around and looking around at all the faqs and nobdy seems to answer the people who want to swap a obdII into and OBDI. I have the motor and it's the si vtec sohc. I'm going to drop it in cause i know if fit directly i just need to know what mods i need to do for this swap. Can anyone help me out here.
It drops right in. Just use the wire harness from the Dx and use a p28 ecu. You'll have to splice up the distributer wires unless you get one of those adapter things. OBD2 has one plug, obd1 has 2 you'll see when your look at the motor.
so that''s all i have to change in the wiring for the dizzy and use a p28. If this is all thank you very much i've spent all morning looking around the forums with no luck. Very much appreciated
if anyone has any links or could give me some details on what i need to wire up like what changes are made it would be appreciated i'm going to tackle it today so whatever i can;t figure out on my own i'm looking to you guys here at hondatech to support me. thanks in advance
I'm attaching the harness to the block right now and it seems i have alot more mods to do then just the distributor. The dizzy plug fits but i notice that it has 8 wires as opposed to 7 like the eg, an the eg distributor has two sensors as opposed to one on the ek. I also noticed that the alternator plugs are not the same as well, and a few others. Since i don't have the ek engine wire harness should i try to find one at a scrap yard or is there some other way? Anybody with the knowlegde to help me would be appreciated.

How much of the DX engine do you have left? if you still have your old alternator reuse that. The IACV plug might be different, if the engine originally came from an automatic EK than it will be, if it came from a 5 speed then it will be the same. If you look at the difference between the EK and EG distributor plugs you will notice that the OBD2 EK plug basically just combined the 2 plugs found on the older OBD1 EGs, this probably saved honda 20 cents worth of plastic per civic, which adds up i guess. There is one extra wire and i can't remember where it goes, but i'm sure its on here somewhere. I've never had an OBD2 distributor apart, i'm almost strictly an OBD1 EG guy, but its possible that you can just swap the guts from your old EG distributor into the EK case, i know this works for OBD1 non vtec guts into vtec distributor cases and vice versa.

I just talked to a local swap shop and they told me to use my obd1 dizzy and alternator. Dizzy fits no prob i checked it out hopefully it will function properly. I need to buy an alternator since i used the old obd1 on my integra i used to have :S. But what about the injectors/ fuel rail issue??. I have an old 92 si vtec intake can i use that? Also there is a couple wires coming out of the the crank case as the bottom like they come from the oil pump or something. 93 dx engine does not have this??

you can use the D16Z6 intake off the SI, but the Y8 on your engine flows better. You can probably just swap out the injectors though. The 2 wires coming from the engine you are refering to are the wires for the CKF sensor, its on OBD2 only sensor, just leave it unplugged, the P28 wont look for it.
thanks for all the info it's very much appreciated. I searched for weeks in the forums and faq's but nothing. My p28 is on its way so hopefully i will ahve it running by next weekend. It's been 1 and a half years since i started to restore my 93 dx.
