b16 tranny or b18 tranny

Default b16 tranny or b18 tranny

a 92 hatch wit an ls vtech motor....wud it run harder wit the b16 tranny or the b18 tranny?

there's more than one b16 trans, and more than one b18 trans. it depends on what you want out of it. a b18a/b trans (ls) has pretty long gears. a b16 trans has closer gears, good for acceleration. similarly, a b18c5 (type r) trans has pretty close gears, but with the addition of a limited slip differential (its always possible to put a lsd in a trans with a factory open differential). b18c1 (gsr) is a pretty good overall trans, gears are a little longer.

i would say either a b16 or gsr trans. with the b16 trans you'll accelerate a little bit quicker. but with the gsr trans, it will pull harder from the top of 3rd on thru the top of 4th and into 5th than the b16 trans.
